Breast Cancer Awareness
Thursday, October 31, 2013
Before October slips away, I wanted to share about Breast Cancer Awareness month. I have not known many people who have had breast cancer personally, but the ones I have known have been very close to me. I lost longtime school friend to breast cancer and I think of her often. We grew up together since before we started kindergarten. I want to share and bring awareness in memory of her, Linda Borelli and all those who lost the battle. We need to bring awareness to the fight and work harder.
My daughter's friend just lost her friend to this battle only days ago in this month! It made me think back over the years and causes me to feel the pain of loss. I am sure it does for many who have lost those they love.
I want to bring awareness in thanksgiving in honor of those who have won the battle! I do this for my best friend, Vicki Swett. She is now a survivor for over 10 years! We celebrate that and thank God! I remember going to doctor visits with Vicki and sitting through chemo with her. She was the only one that I ever saw in that place, that was dressed up, happy and smiling and giving away lots of encouragement to all those there who looked like they had given up hope and came in all dreary in sweats and not caring what they looked like at all. The nurses loved to see my friend and commented how much she cheered up their day. She cheered them up and she was the one with breast cancer!
Let's keep doing all that we can do to bring awareness and help the cause.
For all the girls out there...like Linda and Vicki. For your girls and for you!
Facebook was full of activity during this past month sharing all the companies who offered wonderful products and offering donations from the purchases. I had an online event to unite several companies, which my friends are sales reps for. Unity is a very good thing. I felt it this month. It brings people together and brings hope with encouragement.
I look forward to next October and hope through this year, we learn of many more survivors. In fact today, I saw a post from a friend Mike, who's young sister beat cancer today!
That is a great way to end Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
